LOCATION:

COMPENSATION:

Salary range is $84,000 - $144,000

ABOUT THE COMPANY:

American Transmission Co. was founded in 2001, as the first multi-state, transmission-only utility in the United States. Unlike most other utilities, we have a single focus: transmission. Our transmission system allows energy producers to transport electric power from where it’s generated to where it’s needed. It’s similar to the interstate highway system, with high-voltage electricity traveling on the transmission system wires like vehicles on the highway.

JOB SUMMARY / DESCRIPTION:

The Compensation Specialist leads and/or participates in the design, development, modeling, costing, implementation, and administration of the Company’s compensation program. The Compensation Specialist also consults with management on organization planning and decision- making regarding the most effective use of compensation and rewards and recognition resources to support the attraction, engagement, and retention of employees.

Compensation Program Management

  • Analyze and evaluate competitive external market information and benchmarking data, identify trends, model cost implications, and creating informational analytics
  • Update and maintain organizational job structure, compensation program and salary structure and guidelines to maintain alignment between company objectives and market competitiveness
  • Administer and lead the execution (communication, implementation, training) of various compensation processes, including incentive payments, job evaluation, annual base pay and bonus cycles for employee and compensation programs
  • Ensure the equitable and consistent application of all compensation policies and practices in accordance with applicable regulations
  • Maintain job levels and job descriptions in support of compensation programs
  • Partner with other HR disciplines to ensure HR products and services are integrated and aligned with business objectives
  • Lead job design and support creation and implementation of career development paths to enhance employees’ skills and knowledge
  • Oversee company vendors who assist with company compensation programs

Compensation Consulting

  • Serve as advisor, subject matter expert and trusted partner for compensation related matters for broad range of client groups, consulting with HR Business Partners and business leaders to understand objectives and provide recommendations and insight into potential compensation actions and organizational changes
  • Provide consultative advice and education to talent acquisition, HR partners and leaders on the interpretation of compensation philosophy for career & development planning
  • Assist managers with making compensation recommendations for employees within the guidelines of company compensation programs Identify and create relevant compensation planning tools, process improvements, change management, and communications action plans.
  • Leads and participates in change management initiatives, special projects, and compensation processes
  • Serves as subject matter expert on compensation technology and process automation

Compensation Analytics

  • Ensure administration of compensation programs delivers results in attracting, engaging and retaining employees
  • Promote operational excellence through the identification and development of tools, analysis and enhancement of offerings, documentation of processes, and identification of metrics and trends that strengthen the organization’s ability to attract and retain employees and deliver desired business results
  • Leads and/or participates in the research and development of compensation and best practices in utility industry and geographic labor markets
  • Conducts research and makes recommendations on emerging trends on compensation policies, practices, regulations, and technology
  • Participates in developing and communicating compensation performance metrics to the Board Compensation Committee
  • Partners with Finance to develop compensation budget forecasts for employee and executive compensation

REQUIREMENTS:  

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Statistics or equivalent job experience

Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in analysis, design and management of Compensation with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Highly developed consultative skills to problem solve and develop creative solutions within the construct of our compensation philosophy
  • Proactive, solution focused with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills to track and prioritize workload
  • Aptitude to work in a fast-paced and multi-tasking environment, with frequently changing priorities
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a track record for planning, delivering and auditing work
  • Excellent business acumen, strong strategic planning, financial, numerical and analytical skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication and presentation skills; effective experience delivering executive-level briefings and communications
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and still project confidence
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally with HR staff to administer programs in compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards
  • HRIS experience in Workday preferred or another Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
  • Advanced level proficiency in MS Office specifically Excel (V-LOOKUP/pivot table/advanced formulas)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; team-player who can work in a collaborative environment and cross-functionally
  • CCP Certification preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Executive, administrative or clerical position in which employee is primarily involved with sedentary work, including keyboarding.
  • Requires occasional lifting objects 10 to 15 pounds and/or light physical activity including bending, squatting, stooping, twisting, reaching, walking, standing and working on irregular surfaces.
