JOB SUMMARY / DESCRIPTION:

How will you make an impact? 

MGIC is looking for a curious and customer-focused Compensation Analyst to join our team. You will be joining a business and a Human Resources Team that is transforming itself for the future. This is an exciting time at MGIC! You will work closely with the HR Business Partners to find solutions that meet the needs of the business and our co-workers. Additionally, this role offers you exposure to key leadership by way of your support and coordination for the Management Development Committee of the Board of Directors. You’ll be part of the Total Rewards Team who works hard to develop and maintain a competitive and valued total rewards package. This is accomplished by:

  • Providing comprehensive analytical support for the design and administration of compensation programs, incentive programs, job evaluations, salary recommendations, and other detailed research projects.
  • Preparing compensation analysis and recommendations for management.
  • Creating and maintaining controls of all aspects of employee compensation and incentive plan administration.
  • Analyzing job responsibilities for new or modified jobs through interviews and research.  Determining overall job worth, creating documentation, and partnering with senior leaders, managers and HR Business Partners to implement.
  • Participating in wage and salary surveys. Providing data for surveys and reviews results to determine current pay trends. Preparing summaries for management and making recommendations for merit budget and salary structure movement.
  • Ensuring accurate system functionality and data for compensation & incentive plans within Workday.  Responsible for design and development of advanced reports and analytics as it relates to compensation in Workday.

What does success look like?

First 30 days:

  • Learn about the current compensation programs and processes in place.
  • Learn about other aspects of the Total Rewards package.
  • Understand the daily/weekly tasks associated with this role.
      
     

First 6 months:

  • Learn how the compensation role fits within the HR function and who the key stakeholders are of the work.
  • Gain familiarity with all functions of the MGIC organization.
  • Contribute ideas on how the compensation function can best meet the needs of the organization.
  • Comfortable with using all MGIC systems and tools.  

First year:

  • Provide analysis of compensation related items with recommendations for change.
  • Ownership of all key, ongoing aspects of the compensation function.
  • Conduct audits and identify solutions in areas of opportunity.
  • Strong relationships forming with key stakeholders, both internally and externally.


REQUIREMENTS:  

Do you have what it takes?

  • Comfortable administering standard compensation guidelines, but advocating when there is a need and ability to be flexible.
  • Experience in salary administration, job evaluation, compensation plan design, and related government regulations and laws.
  • Experience in incentive plan design and other total rewards strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and consultative skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Completion of the CCP certification/designation preferred.
  • Prior experience with Workday and Payscale is preferred.
